A Quick Diversion:

The Actual News:

As you may be aware of, I created a “Galar Language” font called “Thraex Sans”, which you can download here. Now as part of my Gentlemon‘s Agreement with all of you guys, I’ve given everyone permission to be able to use that font for free in your art projects, which can also include if you plan on selling pieces of that artwork, provided the use of the font is minor and your earnings are reasonable. Now not to get TOO lawyer-y, but I intended this to mean that as long as you don’t go all super corporate and sell a million copies of your artwork with my font used all over the place, then I won’t fret. (Let’s just leave it at that for now.)

Anyways, I didn’t think much about this, and I only placed specific font use guidelines in the Legal Stuff page just for my own protection… but surprise surprise, Thraex Sans has finally appeared on an art piece that is being sold! And it’s a really cool piece which might make for a really awesome last-minute Christmas gift too!

So a while back, Twitter user @MelShardae contacted me to ask for permission to use Thraex Sans in an art project, namely on some Galar Gym Leader-inspired hoodies which they were going to sell on Etsy. Since the piece was only going to be a limited production run and used where the Gym Leader’s name would appear on their uniform, I figured “why not?” and gave them my blessings. And I’m glad I did, because WOWZERS!, these hoodies look awesome! I’ve posted a quick look of three of them below; meanwhile MelShardae has one for each Galar Gym Leader in both Pokémon Sword and Shield games. Take a look!

Pretty nifty stuff, huh? If these tickle your fancy, then head on over to MelShardae’s Etsy page and pick one up for yourself! They’re only US$40 each (collect them all!), which I think is worth it to help support independent artists. Now for the sake of full disclosure, I don’t earn anything from the sale of these hoodies, nor was I compensated in any way for advertising it, and I didn’t design these beyond the creation and use of Thraex Sans. Rather, 100% of the sales and credit for the work go to MelShardae. I’m just sharing this to likewise play my part to help support a fellow artist, as well as to show how art is a collaborative process, and that great things come from when we work together in different ways.

Now if this inspires you to use Thraex Sans in YOUR artwork, sweetish! Again, you’re free to use it in any art piece you’d like. That said, if you plan to sell copies of your artwork with Thraex Sans in it… while I will likely be OK with it, I would definitely appreciate it if you could give me a heads up about it. If anything you can get a free link to your Etsy, Patreon, etc., page for it! Finally, I want to give you a fair warning that I reserve the right to change my open agreement to the free use of Thraex Sans in your artwork, sold or not, at any time, without prior and/or public notice. I mean, right now it’s A-OK fine-and-dandy like sour candy… but it might change later on down the road, so don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Good times were had by all. Huzzah!
